Oh, I never said people aren't abused, or everything is wonderful... I said in fact "Otherkin are more in danger of being laughed at, told they are not serious, and treated negatively/abusively by a therapist than they are of being locked up." There are many ways of abusing someone without locking them up, and I definitely think psychiatry can be abusive.
But, I didn't know the things you said above, and thank you for making that clear, because I mostly have experienced the opposite: people who won't give you treatment of any kind because you're not worth it to them or they think you're making it up, etc. I will add a link to your comment to this post because I think that it is important that people read this.
